Last show!

13 performances have come and gone, and tonight is our final performance of Fur. We had an excellent turnout last night despite the blizzard in New York City, and we’re hoping for a full house on this sunny (if freezing!) day. Thank you so much to everyone who has come out to see the show! We so appreciate your support of Longstocking Productions and theater in general.

Stay tuned for what will be coming up next for the Longstockings!

Set evolution

Hello everyone!

We’re done with the first week of performances of Fur! We’ve had four wonderful performances, and we’re all so excited for the remaining 10! Have you bought a ticket yet? You can do so at https://www.ovationtix.com/trs/cal/28695/, or you can buy a ticket at the door (cash only!).

To peak your interest a little more, here are a few photos showing the evolution of the set of Fur, from the model prepared by set designer Karl-Erik Larson to the nearly completed life-size version only a day before opening night. Enjoy!

Naomi Kline and Charles Goforth look on as Karl-Erik Larson explains the model of the set during a lunchtime production meeting.

The stage left wall is assembled on the floor before being stood up into place.

The stage right wall is assembled on the floor. Note the flats standing up the background that will become the upstage wall.

All of the walls are stained and in place! Can you guess which doors are real and which are fake?

Come see Fur this week to watch the set completely transform in a matter of seconds!

Opening night!

The set has been built, the lights have been focused, the costumes have been fitted… it’s opening night! We’ve had a long few days of loading in the set and all the other technical elements, but we’re finally ready to show off our play! Will you be there?

Tickets can be purchased at our website or at the door (cash only!). The show is at the Access Theatre, located on the fourth floor at 380 Broadway (Broadway and White St). The show will begin at 8pm. We hope to see you there!

Also, stay tuned for some photos from the last week to see the set coming together piece by piece.

Fight choreography photos

We welcomed David Anzuelo to rehearsal last week to choreograph the fight scene in Fur. Take a look at some photographs for a preview!

Welcome to Longstocking Productions!

Welcome to the new blog of Longstocking Productions! We’ll use this blog to give information about our upcoming productions and provide a backstage look into their creation.

Founded by three spirited women, Longstocking Productions is a company of emerging writers, directors and actors intent on producing new and original work with an emphasis on employing women in theatre and film.

Longstocking’s latest production, Fur, tells the story of two sisters in Texas in the 1940s. In order to escape the crushing poverty of her mother’s home, Mimi ventures out to live with her glamorous yet emotionally combustible sister. Fur asks the question: where is the line between love and suffocation?

Fur opens on December 3rd at 8pm at the Access Theatre at 380 Broadway (@ White St.). Please visit http://www.longstockingproductions.com for more information and to purchase tickets!
